She has a name. And it's a girl's name too!

She has a name. And it's a girl's name too!(Kudos if you caught that Mulan reference.) Lorelai Pond (Hmmm... wonder what shows I am watching lately! *cough* Doctor Who & Gilmore Girls *cough*) is my WannaBlythe dolly and I have been working a ton on her... yet not actually posting it. Therefore I will just be catching up for awhile.  But she has a name! She has [ a bit of] a story [yet to be shared. JUST WAIT!]!

Oh and SOOOO many ideas. Some people do a doll in a theme. An Alice in Wonderland doll.A Steampunk doll. A spooky clown doll.  With my budget (of almost no money), even with a Blybe like Lorelai, I plan to just use HER... and make her many outfits.  So many "Bly-deas!"

For instance:

  • Doctor Who (tribute to multiple regenerations of The Doctor) complete with cardboard TARDIS
  • Amy Pond (vs. The Silence)
  • Sparks McGee
  • Steampunk (OF COURSE.)
  • Violently Violet Victorian
  • Totally 80's with a SPOON!
  • Blogger
  • Lilo & Stitch
  • Doctor Who Pyjamas (spelled that way for the British!)
  • Safari (ala Critters 2 Go)
  • Rosie the Riveter (We Can Do It!)
  • Max from Where the Wild Things Are (done except slippers and hat!)
  • Garden Gnome (ala David the Gnome and the Gnomes encyclopedia OF COURSE.)
  • Dark Fairy
  • Nerd
  • Bath time
  • Mini-ME aka: Like Mother like Dolly (glasses, pets, T-shirt, jeans, books, etc.)
  • ROUS Defender, the Human Girl sidekick to the amazing SUPER CAPY the famous plush version of Garibaldi the Capybara at gianthamster.com!
  • Sparks McGee
  • Disney
  • Mormon Pioneer
  • Thanksgiving Pilgrim
  • Hogwarts uniform
  • Mermaid
  • Swimsuit
  • And i will probably think of MORE.

She's here!

I bought my doll for $23.00 at http://www.ninabella9.com/. While she sells on eBay, too, it was a little cheaper on her site and I took a risk. It paid off, and this week she arrived, all wrapped up in bubble wrap, looking better than I imagined.

I'll be honest... her head is bigger than I thought it would be. I have never seen a Blythe in real life, only ogled online and my perspective was skewed.  But I love her.

And I have big plans... I am just not sure what they are yet. I am a total beginner.  Do I dare change her face? Do I want to do something drastic and artsy? Should she be a Steampunk (my current favorite aesthetic)? A nerd? Look like me, with miniature sugar gliders riding on her shoulders and in her pockets? I just do not know.

What I do know...

  • I want to make her less shiny. From reading things like ThisIsFakeBlythe I surmise this will either mean some serious time with fine sandpaper or a nail buffer.
  • I want to PROBABLY replace the pink and basically orange eye chips with something less creepy. One of them I want to be brown. The other maybe something awesome like maybe dark purple or a steampunk graphic.
  • I want to give her better hair. I bought a wig on ebay from Blythaholic and they were SO good to work with, by the way. It is close to the same color, but with a little purple braid on top.
  • She needs a name.  I am thinking Amythyst Kimball, as it is my go to Steamsona name, but I don't know for sure. She just hasn't "told" me yet, you know?
By the way, her specs, as in the way she was described for sale were thus:
12" Doll Big Head Blybe Basaak Color Changing eyes CCE
Brand New Blythe CCE (color changing eyes). She has cute 4-color eyes that change with the pull of a string attached to the back of her head. She's 12" tall with a slim body. Her knees bend and her neck rotates, but her waist does not swivel. Her body fits Blythe clothes and accessories. She is the Blythe clone, of medium quality…a pretty fashion doll at a reasonable price, and a great gift for the girls. Perfect for practicing on to customize a doll.
Price: $23.00
